J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Gainesville. Mrs. Reid died June 4, 2012 in Denton. She was born March 5, 1927 to Henry and Myrtle Erwin at the Pilot Knob Ranch outside of Denton, TX She was a retired school teacher of 22 years. She taught her entire career at Gainesville High School. She taught Speech and Drama. Survivors include: son and daughter-in-law Gary and Mary Nel O'Dell of Lake Kiowa, TX; daughter and son-in-law Cheryl and Bob Garsee of Denton, TX; step-daughter Darla Butler of Sachse, TX; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; brother John Erwin of Denton, TX; and brother Wayne Erwin of Ft. Worth, TX. Mrs. Reid was preceeded in death by: husband Billy Wayne O'Dell; husband Ben "Bo" Reid; her parents; four brothers; and five sisters. KENNETH WAYNE RIVOIRE CLASS OF 1947 Services for Kenneth Wayne Rivoire, 76, of Gainesville are set for 2 p.m. Saturday at the First Presbyterian Church with Rev. John Hare officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home of Gainesville. Mr. Rivoire died May 17, 2006, at Presbyterian Hospital of Denton. He was born April 9, 1930, in Gainesville to John and Dealie Bearden Rivoire. On May 9, 1958, he married Olivia Smith in Gainesville. Kenneth was a graduate of Gainesville High School and was a veteran of the Korean War, serving the Army of the United States. He later graduated from Texas A&M; University, where he was a member of the A&M; Singing Cadets. He was employed with Armco Steel for 28 years and was the owner and operator of “Give Me a Break” vending company. He was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church and served in the Chancel Choir. He was a member of the Cooke County Chorale, American Hereford Association and was a life-long rancher in Cooke County. Survivors include his wife, Olivia Rivoire of Gainesville; son, Rory Rivoire; daughters and sons-in-law, Renae and Jeff Leftwich and Ronda and Jerry Perry; grandchildren, Tommy and Dusty Rivoire, Jeffrey and Jacob Williams, Chelsea, Jaden and Macy Perry; sister and brother-in-law, Marie and Sam Cotten of Gainesville; sisters-in-law, Imogene Rivoire and Edalou Steed of Gainesville; sister-in-law and her husband, Thellis and Norris Chapman of Longview; brother-in-law, Wayne Dillard of Gainesville; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. SIDNEY GORDON RAMSEY CLASS OF 1950 “Along the banks of the Red River a frail little woman gave birth to a wildcat.” Sidney Gordon Ramsey was born Dec. 9, 1932, just north of Muenster in Cooke County, Texas, to Elisha Gordon and Ruby Hobbs Ramsey, and on Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013, he went home to be with his Lord. He graduated from Gainesville High School in 1950. He attended North Central Texas College before serving in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1953 to 1955, at Fort Carson, Colo. He also attended Arlington State College and graduated with a BBA in 1968, from the University of Texas at Arlington. Mr. Ramsey worked for LTV from 1955 to 1972, where he was an administrator for the A-7 project. After leaving LTV, in 1972, he started Ramsey Realty and the RAMCO Development. In 1981, he entered the oil business as an independent oil producer, and he continued with this operation until his retirement in 2012. In Fort Carson, Colo., during his service in the army, he met the love of his life, Jo Ann Moore. He married her on Oct. 16, 1954, and again on Dec. 11, 1981. They celebrated 58 years of wedded bliss on Oct. 16, 2012. Mr. Ramsey was preceded in death by his parents; and his older sister, Imogene. He is survived by his wife, Jo; daughters, Cyndy and husband Gary Sylvester of Fort Worth and Jenny and husband Ben Bowers of Arlington; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church in Arlington. Sid Ramsey was never at a loss for words and he never met a stranger. He was full of life and love for his family. He will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved him. Services for Mr. Ramsey were held at First United Methodist Church in Arlington on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013. The family greeted friends on Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, at Moore Funeral Home. Dr. David Mosser officiated the service. |

HUGH BOYD RIVOIRE 1932-February 5, 2013 CLASS OF 1951 Hugh Boyd Rivoire, 80, joined his loved ones in Heaven on Feb. 5, 2013. Born Feb. 14, 1932 in Gainesville, Boyd was the sixth child born to Irena and Paul Rivoire. He lived the majority of his life in Lubbock, where he owned and managed several rent houses. He was a long-time and devout member of the Sunset Church of Christ. The burial service will be Friday, Feb. 8, 2013 at 2 p.m. at the Pavillion at Fairview Cemetery in Gainesville. The family memorial service will be held Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013 at 1 p.m. at the Rivoire family plot in the Fairview Cemetery. Boyd was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Olin G. Rivoire and Paul J. Rivoire, sisters, Emma Lois, and husband Kaiser Thompson; Meda Rose, and husband Ludy M. Massie; and Edna Lou, and husband Lloyd C. Skow; and nieces, Marta Gail Massie Fenter and Jana Lynn Massie Paterson. He is survived by sisters-in-law, Justine Rivoire and Murthel Rivoire and numerous nephews and nieces. TOMMY RAWLS CLASS OF 1960 Thomas Blake Rawls of Gainesville died Jan.30 in a Denton hospital. He was 58. Funeral services were held Wednesday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Gatesville with Father Hilario Guajardo officiating. Burial was in Turnersville Cemetery. Mrs. Rawls was born Aug. 2, 1941, in Temple to Margaret Isabell Gann Anderson and the late James Chappel Rawls. On July 7, 1961, he married Mary Virginia (Jean) Pancake in Austin. He worked as a foreman for Precinct 2 in Cooke County. He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Richard Irvin Rawls. Survivors include his wife, Jean Rawls; mother, Margaret Isabell Anderson of Belton; two sons, Thomas Blake Rawls Jr. and Michael I. While attending GHS, she was a member of the cast of several school plays including Camelot, Finian's Rainbow and Oklahoma. During all three years at GHS, she was a member of the high school Chorus. Mr. Reiter died August 27, 2016 at Renaissance Care Center from complications of Alzheimer’s Disease. Mr. Reiter. He married Chubby Mages on July 2, 1960 at Sacred Heart Catholic Reiter. In 1959, he accepted a position with Texas Instruments in Richardson, TX. Doug worked at Texas Instruments for eight years. In 1968, he joined his father and brother in the dairy business. Doug worked on the family dairy for 39 years and retired in 2007. Survivors include his wife Chubby, three sons & daughters-in-law: Chuck & Mistee Reiter of Gainesville, Dave & Jill Reiter of Muenster, and Marc & Kerri Reiter of Lindsay; six grandchildren: Dustin, Alaina, Rylee, Ryenne, Madison & Kortnie; his brother, Gene Reiter of Gainesville; and his sister, June Blevins of Houston. Mr. Reiter was preceded in death by his parents, Toney & Rose (Luttmer) Reiter; his father-in-law & mother-in-law, Joe & Theresa (Bayer) Mages; and his sister-in-law, Shirley Reiter. BOBBY CHARLES RAMSEY CLASS OF 1963 A celebration of life with visitation to follow for Bobby Charles Ramsey, 72, of Mountain Springs, is set for 4:00 PM Monday, August 15, 2016 at the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home. Bobby was born on July 25, 1944 in Sherman to Loran Jake "L.J." and Geneva Merle (Moore) Ramsey. He passed away on August 12, 2016 in Denton. Bobby graduated Gainesville High School in 1963. He joined the U.S. Army in 1964 and served until 1968 where he was a Golden Gloves Boxer. Bobby was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 1922. He is survived by his wife Kathy Ramsey of Mountain Springs; brother Keith Ramsey and his wife Susan of Longview; and sister Donna Gossett and her husband Tommy of Benton, AR. He is also survived by a niece, two nephews, and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews. Bobby was preceded in death by his parents.
